Diploma Holders and Advanced Diploma Holders

Students who graduate from a two-year or longer faculty of a professional training college are granted the title of "Diploma Holder," while those who complete a four-year or longer course of study are granted the title of "Advanced Diploma Holder." Graduates of faculties which grant "Diploma Holder" titles can enter universities. Persons with Advanced Diploma Holder titles can also qualify to enter graduate schools. These titles are taken into consideration by companies when making hiring and compensation decisions, and are also recognized as proof of completion of a course of study at an institution of higher learning.

Requirements for faculties to grant a Diploma Holder title

  1. The faculty's course of study must be two years or longer
  2. The total number of hours of instruction necessary to graduate must be 1,700 hours or more
  3. Grades must be assigned using tests, etc., and graduation decisions must be made based on these grades

Requirements for faculties to grant an Advanced Diploma Holder title

  1. The faculty's course of study must be four years or longer
  2. The total number of hours of instruction necessary to graduate must be 3,400 hours or more
  3. There must be a systematic curriculum
  4. Grades must be assigned using tests, etc., and graduation decisions must be made based on these grades
