5-2 Employment guidance at professional training colleges
At professional training colleges, where students study a curriculum directly related to employment, job hunting activities that include practical training begin immediately after enrollment.
Make use of the Career Center
Professional training colleges have strong ties with companies and in some cases have established equally strong ties with graduates who have found jobs or started businesses in Japan. Consult with your homeroom teacher or employment guidance counselor before job hunting.
If you do not find a job by graduation
If you wish to continue your job hunt after graduation, apply for permission to change your visa to “Designated activities.”
Refer to the page for “Foreign nationals who wish to stay as Japanese university graduates ”」on the Immigration Services Agency website for information about the documents required for application.
You will also need a letter of recommendation from the school and documents proving that you have been engaged in employment activities while enrolled there. During your job-hunting period, part-time work is allowed within the permitted range if you have permission to engage in an activity other than those permitted by your visa.
